At least 30 people attended the presentation given by Lee Einsweiler, Vickie Jacobsen and Keith Convington. The presentation introduced members of the general public to the project, explained the charrette process, and included some “food for thought” on best practices in traditional town planning, transportation, sustainability, urban design, and Smart Growth. While in Jena for the open house, members of the consultant team met with a variety of focus groups representing the Choctaw Indians, the real estate profession, the medical industry and local oil production.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: xx-small; white-space: pre-wrap; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; "><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf" width="400" height="267" flashvars="host=picasaweb.google.com&hl=en_US&feat=flashalbum&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fcolinscarff%2Falbumid%2F5359522252673258481%3Falt%3Drss%26kind%3Dphoto%26hl%3Den_US" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed></span></div>Colin Scarffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16770590860022924936noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248686973268027468.post-71517379643982227232009-07-01T13:21:00.000-07:002009-07-03T06:05:22.752-07:00Open House: July 9th, Jena Town Hall, 6 pmMembers of the consultant team charged with developing Jena's Vision will be in town on Thursday July 9 to facilitate a public open house. CPEX awarded the Town $80,000 in seed funding, which the town matched. The Town of Jena hired a consultant team led by Code Studio to develop the community's first ever town plan "Jena's Vision." CPEX staff will also provide technical assistance to aid in the planning effort. </div><div><br /></div><div>The Town Plan will guide future growth and development. It will address several different elements such as land use, housing, transportation, downtown development and design, infrastructure, drainage, and open space conservation.</div><div><br /></div><div>The Jena Town Council has appointed a Town Planning Core Group to work closely with consultant Code Studio to develop the plan. Members of that group include: Karen Creel, Kurt Girlinghouse, David Paul Jones, W. B. (Bo) McCartney, Jr., Ricky Parker, Donny Richardson, Annie Riser, Cheryl Smith, Evelyn Talley- Moser, Marsheela Walters, Julia Welch, and Rev. Jimmy Young.</div><div><br /></div><div>For more information on Jena's Vision, please contact Haley Blakeman at 225-267-6300 or haley@c-pex.org. This planning effort will have an important impact on Jena's future and your lives as citizens. Please participate as much as you can.</div><div><br /></div>Colin Scarffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16770590860022924936noreply@blogger.com0
